BANKING
Banking is where UAE plans actually fail
Forming the company takes days. Opening the account can take weeks, and applications are rejected more often than anyone selling company formation will tell you. This section exists because it is the step that decides whether the structure works.

As compliance requirements tightened
The zone you register in changes how the bank reads you before it reads anything else. That is why we tell people to choose the structure with the bank in mind, not to choose the cheapest licence and hope.

WHAT DECIDES IT
Four things the bank is really assessing.
Substance
A genuine office, real activity and expenditure that matches the licence. A virtual address with nothing behind it is the fastest route to a decline.
Activity plausibility
The licensed activity must match the transaction profile you describe. A general trading licence used for consultancy invoices does not read well.
Ownership transparency
Full ultimate beneficial owner disclosure, with clean identity and address evidence for every layer of the structure.
Source of wealth and funds
Where the money came from and where it will come from. Named counterparties and signed contracts do more than a business plan.

OpenQUESTIONS
Asked before the application goes in.
How long does a corporate account take?
Typical onboarding runs two to six weeks, and six to twelve weeks or outright rejection for higher-risk profiles such as crypto, forex or pure holding companies.
Are rejections common?
More common than anyone selling company formation will tell you, and rejections rose through 2025 as compliance tightened. Newly formed companies without trading history face the highest scrutiny.
Can I open the account before the company?
No. The licence, establishment card and shareholder documents come first. What you can do is choose the zone with the bank in mind, which is the point of reading this before you register.
